What will you learn?

An area of web design which is often overlooked. This one-day course will give a general understanding of the best use of static and animated images and graphics for optimum display over the Internet. The applications used for this course are the latest versions of the industry standard Adobe PhotoShop / ImageReady and Macromedia Fireworks. You will learn that both applications can be used to do the same work and you will be able to make an informed choice of which one you prefer and choose to invest more time in.

What previous experience will you need?

A general understanding of digital imaging, Adobe PhotoShop and web design would be useful. This course complements ncdi’s Dreamweaver and Introduction to Digital Imaging courses.

What will the session include?

  • Gifs and jpegs - their differences and when to use them
  • How to prepare graphics for best quality display over the Internet
  • How to prepare graphics for fastest download from the Internet
  • DPI resolution
  • The web safe palette
  • Slices, buttons and rollovers
  • Creating graphical navigation menus
  • Creating animations
